PiccoliHotel.com was born from a simple idea: finding where to stay shouldn’t mean getting lost in endless, impersonal lists. The big booking portals show thousands of properties, all on the same level, leaving you all the work of figuring out which ones are actually worth it. We do the opposite: we sift through those lists and pick only the best for each destination, telling their story in clear guides. The name “PiccoliHotel” (Italian for “small hotels”) is a promise of care and selection, not a limit of category: in our guides you’ll find both welcoming family-run properties and 5-star hotels, all sharing one thing — being, in our view, the best choices in the area.

What we do
We’re an editorial project, not a travel agency and not a big booking portal. Our job is to select, tell and organise the best properties in every Italian destination into clear, useful guides: where to stay in a given area, which properties stand out and why, what to know before booking. We start from the data of several sources and portals, and from those huge lists we extract a considered selection, so you don’t have to. Then you can book with peace of mind through the official booking sites we link to.
How we choose the properties
For us, trust starts here. We don’t publish everything: we apply precise editorial criteria, the same for every destination in Italy.
Selection, not lists
We don’t publish everything. From thousands of properties we pick only the ones we consider the best in each destination, across every category and price range.
Verified data
The information in our guides is based on official, up-to-date sources, cross-checking the data of several portals. We always state prices as indicative, since they vary by season and availability.
For every traveller
From the bed & breakfast to the 5-star hotel: we offer different types, so everyone finds the right property for their trip and their budget.
The properties in our selections don’t pay to be included: the choice is editorial and independent. When we recommend a property it’s because we believe it can be a good option for the reader, not because of commercial deals.
Our independence and transparency
PiccoliHotel.com is free for those who use it. When you book a property through the links on the site, we may receive a small commission from our booking partners, at no extra cost to you: you pay the same price you’d find booking directly.
It’s these commissions that allow us to keep the project independent, free and clear of deals that would influence the content. The selection of properties and what we write in the guides remain our editorial choice.
Why “PiccoliHotel”
Because behind the name there’s an idea of care. “Piccoli” — Italian for “small” — doesn’t refer to the size of the properties (our selections include large luxury hotels too) but to the way we work: with the craftsmanship of those who choose by hand, one property at a time, instead of dumping an automatic catalogue online. We want anyone who lands on PiccoliHotel to find few but good options, told by those who selected them with care. That’s the difference we aim to make.
Where we are today
PiccoliHotel.com was born in the mountains, among the valleys of the Aosta Valley, and has grown from there: today our guides cover a growing number of Italian regions — from the Alps to the art cities, from the coast to the hill towns — with the same method everywhere. For each region we publish a regional guide that acts as a compass, the area guides that go into the detail of every destination, and the listings of the selected properties, with verified information on rooms, amenities and location.
Behind every guide there’s the analysis of thousands of properties per region, from which we extract only the ones we tell you about. The goal hasn’t changed: covering the whole of Italy, one region at a time, keeping the same care in the selection.
The best place to start is our blog, with all the guides region by region: you’ll always find it up to date with the latest destinations published.

Does using PiccoliHotel.com cost anything?
No, the site is completely free. If you book through our links we may receive a small commission from the booking partners, at no extra cost to you: you pay the same price you’d find booking directly.
How do you choose the properties you recommend?
