B&B dell’Acquario is a family-run property in Genoa’s historic centre, spread across three 17th-century buildings just 200 metres from the Genoa Aquarium and a short distance from the old port.
The accommodations, ranging from rooms to studio apartments with kitchenette, stand out for their exposed stone walls and colourful furnishings that echo the character of Genoa’s alleyways. Every unit has air conditioning, free WiFi and a flat-screen TV, while the apartments add their own kitchen and daily cleaning for longer stays. Some units, such as the ground-floor Studio, also have a private terrace.
Breakfast, served directly in the room, features Ligurian pastries, fresh fruit and gluten-free or takeaway options for guests with tight schedules. Location is one of the aspects guests mention most often: San Lorenzo Cathedral is 600 metres away, Piazza De Ferrari is a ten-minute walk, and San Giorgio metro station is just 300 metres away, convenient for reaching the rest of the city without a car.

B&B dell’Acquario offers five types of accommodation spread across historic buildings in Genoa’s city centre, ranging from more compact rooms to apartments designed for families or small groups. All options share a private bathroom, air conditioning, free WiFi and a flat-screen TV, ensuring a comfortable stay regardless of the size chosen.
The differences mainly concern space and layout: starting from the 21 sqm Double Room with Twin Beds, designed for two people, up to the 65 sqm One-Bedroom Apartment on Vico Gelsa, which accommodates up to six guests thanks to the sofa bed in the living room. The ground-floor Studio offers a private terrace, while the Superior Studio stands out for its larger living area. The Triple Room, with independent entrance, is the only one equipped with a microwave in the room.
The coziest room in the property, at just 21 sqm, retains the exposed stone walls that characterise the historic building. Featuring a sofa, air conditioning and a coffee machine, it is designed for two people and can accommodate an extra single bed on request.
Located on the ground floor, this 45 sqm studio is the only one in the property with a private terrace. Exposed stone walls, a kitchenette and tiled floors complete a space larger than the double room, accessible via a few steps.
At 53 sqm, this studio is larger than the previous one and stands out for its more generous living area and extra-large double bed. The bathroom is equipped with a hairdryer and toiletries; access here is also via a series of steps.
The largest of the accommodations, at 65 sqm and with capacity for up to six guests, features a private entrance independent from the rest of the property. The equipped kitchenette and dining table make it suitable for families or small groups staying several days.
Designed for groups of three or more, this 28 sqm room is the only one in the property equipped with a microwave in the room and a private entrance separate from the other accommodations.
The facilities at B&B dell’Acquario focus on everyday comfort and guest independence: daily cleaning, heating, air conditioning and an iron are available in every accommodation, while the independent entrance and magnetic key access allow guests to manage arrival times freely. There is also a small on-site minimarket, useful for everyday shopping.
For breakfast, served directly in the room, the property offers fresh fruit and a kettle for tea and coffee, with the option to request Italian, gluten-free or takeaway options. Rooms also feature a toaster, microwave and refrigerator in units with a kitchenette, as well as toiletries and a hairdryer in the bathroom.
Pets are welcome free of charge on request, and a parking service with car retrieval is available on site, convenient for those arriving in Genoa by car.
B&B dell’Acquario is located on Vico Cimella, within the maze of caruggi that make up Genoa’s historic centre, one of the largest medieval districts in Europe. Around the property, 16th-century buildings stand alongside small churches such as San Marco al Molo just 50 metres away and historic taverns like Antica Osteria di Vico Palla, 40 metres from the entrance: a lively neighbourhood, frequented by both residents and visitors.
For those arriving without a car, San Giorgio metro station is 300 metres away and quickly connects to the rest of the city, while Portello railway station is about 900 metres away. Genoa-Sestri Airport can be reached in just a few minutes, 4.9 km away, also convenient for those arriving or leaving the same day. The old port is a short walk away, as is Piazza Matteotti, 500 metres away.
The proximity to the Genoa Aquarium, about 350 metres away, makes the area particularly suited to families with children, but the neighbourhood also offers much for those seeking art and history. San Lorenzo Cathedral, with its black-and-white striped façade, is about 600 metres away, while Piazza De Ferrari, the city’s main square, is the same distance and can be reached in about a ten-minute walk. Palazzo Ducale is 500 metres away, Porta Soprana 700 metres, and Palazzo Rosso, with its painting collections, just over 700 metres away. In summer, Punta Vagno beach, 2.3 km away, and the fishing village of Boccadasse, 4.3 km away, make for an easy trip even without a car, while in winter the historic centre remains the main destination thanks to its museums and churches.
