Grand Hotel Dino is a 4-star hotel located on the shore of Lake Maggiore in Baveno, surrounded by gardens and facing directly onto the Borromean Islands. The spacious and elegant property features a private sandy beach, two outdoor pools and panoramic whirlpool tubs, making it a particularly popular choice among couples.
The rooms, spread between the main building and the Sporting building, are air-conditioned and furnished in a classic style, with wooden floors, a minibar and satellite TV; many offer a private balcony with mountain or lake views, while the upper suites add separate living areas, marble bathrooms and whirlpool tubs. Family solutions with extra beds are also available.
The wellness centre with sauna and Turkish bath, the games room, the ping-pong table and several restaurants and bars overlooking the lake complete the offering. The hotel stands next to an art gallery and the pier from which boat trips depart, just 4 km from Stresa and about 50 minutes from Milan Malpensa Airport.

Grand Hotel Dino offers ten room and suite types, all featuring a private bathroom, air conditioning, minibar and flat-screen TV, spread between the main building and the connected Sporting building. The Classic Double and Deluxe Rooms, between 16 and 20 square metres, overlook the mountains, the pool or partially the lake, with wooden floors and mosaic-decorated bathrooms; some Deluxe versions add finer fabrics.
The higher-category rooms raise the level: the Junior Suite and Senior Suite, with private balcony and Lake Maggiore views, offer marble bathrooms with whirlpool tub, while the Presidential Suite, the largest at 55 square metres, has two bathrooms and a panoramic terrace overlooking the Borromean Islands. For stays of three, Family rooms are available with an extra sofa bed.
The Classic Double Room mountain side is the most compact room type in the property, with 16 square metres, wooden floors and a private bathroom with mosaic decorations. Some units have a balcony with mountain views, assigned subject to availability.
Compared to the Classic, this Deluxe Room gains two extra square metres and finer furnishing fabrics, while keeping the same mountain view and the possibility of a balcony subject to availability.
The Junior Suite is the first category with guaranteed lake view: a private balcony overlooking Lake Maggiore, a living area with fine chairs and rugs, and a marble bathroom with whirlpool tub and separate shower.
Larger than the Junior Suite, the Senior Suite offers 40 square metres with a separate living room and bedroom, panelled walls and a private balcony with views of the lake and the Borromean Islands.
The Presidential Suite is the largest accommodation in the hotel, with 55 square metres spread across a spacious living room, a separate bedroom and two marble bathrooms, one with a whirlpool tub; the only room with its own terrace.
This Classic Double shares the classic style of the other rooms but faces the pool side, with a partial lake view not guaranteed, assigned subject to availability.
Deluxe version of the pool-side room, with finer fabrics and 20 square metres of floor space, slightly larger than the corresponding Classic, with pool view or partial lake view.
Designed for three guests, this Family Room has an extra sofa bed in addition to the double bed, but unlike the other categories it has no balcony and offers a more limited view.
Grand Hotel Dino provides guests with two outdoor pools, a private sandy beach and whirlpool tubs with lake views, as well as a wellness centre with sauna and Turkish bath, a gym and massage service.
General services include a 24-hour front desk, lift, internet connection, air conditioning, bicycle hire, a games room and ping-pong table, plus laundry, ironing and luggage storage services. For dining, guests can choose from a restaurant, a bar, a snack bar and the option of breakfast in the room.
Rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV with satellite channels, telephone and internet connection, while private bathrooms include toiletries, a hairdryer and, in many room types, a bathtub. A garage is also available for guests travelling by car.
Grand Hotel Dino stands along Corso Garibaldi, in the heart of the Baveno lakefront, one of the most elegant towns on the Piedmont shore of Lake Maggiore. The property is surrounded by well-kept gardens and borders an art gallery and the pier from which boats depart for the Borromean Islands, making the area particularly lively in the summer months but quiet the rest of the year.
Baveno railway station is just 300 metres away, while Stresa’s is about 3.5 km away, convenient for those arriving by train along the Simplon line. Stresa, with its historic centre and pedestrian lakefront, is just 4 km away and easily reached on foot, by bike or by boat. Milan Malpensa Airport can be reached in about 50 minutes by car, around 33 km away. Within a few dozen metres there are several restaurants such as Il Portico and Golfo di Napoli, as well as bars and venues overlooking the main street.
Boats to the Borromean Islands, including Isola Bella and Isola dei Pescatori, depart regularly from Baveno, a classic destination for a day trip. Garden lovers can visit Villa Pallavicino Park, about 5 km away, or the Villa Taranto Botanical Gardens in Verbania, on the other side of the gulf. For those who love wilder nature, Val Grande National Park, Italy’s largest wilderness area, is about 9 km away and is an ideal destination for hikes in spring and summer, while in winter the surrounding mountains offer striking views visible directly from many of the hotel’s rooms.
