Location & what to see

Just a few steps away are the Waaghaus, the Dominican church and the Capuchin church, all reachable in a few minutes on foot through the alleys of the old town and the city’s typical arcades.

Bolzano’s railway station is just 300 metres away, convenient for those arriving by train from Trento, Merano or Innsbruck, while Bolzano Airport is about 4 km away. The A22 Brenner motorway can be reached in a 10-minute drive. Castel Mareccio, the city’s ancient wine-growing residence, is about one kilometre away, and the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, home to the Ötzi mummy, is around 450 metres away.

Bolzano is an excellent base for exploring the Dolomites in every season: in summer, the Alpe di Siusi and Sciliar, about 7 km away, can be reached in a day for hikes among mountain huts and meadows; in winter, the city remains the starting point for the ski lifts of Val Gardena and South Tyrol.
