Introd is a village of around 650 inhabitants occupying the lower section of the Rhêmes and Valsavarenche valleys, right at the entrance to the Gran Paradiso National Park — Italy’s first national park, established in 1922 to protect the Alpine ibex. The village’s very name derives from the Franco-Provençal expression “entre-eaux”, meaning “between the waters”, owing to its position between the Dora di Rhêmes river and the Savara torrent.
