Location & what to see

Residence Weissthor is located in the hamlet of Pecetto, one of the historic settlements of Macugnaga, at the foot of the east face of Monte Rosa. The landscape is dominated by the peak of Nordend, which at 4,609 metres rises just 250 metres from the property, while wooden chalets, larch forests and typical alpine meadows extend around it, characterizing this corner of Piedmont.

For meals outside the property, the restaurants La Locanda and Miramonti are about 150 metres away, while Taverna del Rosa is just under a kilometre away. The charming Chiesa Vecchia, one of the town’s most characteristic historic sites, is a ten-minute walk away, at 850 metres. Those arriving by car or plane will find Milan Malpensa Airport about 105 km away, a couple of hours’ drive through the Ossola Valley.

Macugnaga is one of the historic destinations of Italian mountaineering and offers different activities depending on the season: in winter skiers reach the slopes directly from the property, while in summer the trails leading up to the mountain huts are ideal for hiking. Those who love panoramic views can venture as far as the Gornergrat ridge, about 13 km away, or visit the Matterhorn Museum in Zermatt, 16 km away, dedicated to the history of climbs on the Matterhorn, whose peak can be glimpsed just 5 km away as the crow flies.
