Location & what to see

Santa Marta Rooms occupies a historic building in the heart of Vernazza, among the cobbled lanes that lead down to the small harbour, in an entirely pedestrian area of the village. The village, one of the five that make up the Cinque Terre National Park and a UNESCO site, still retains the look of the old colourful tower-houses perched above the sea, with the small square and the Church of Santa Margherita d’Antiochia just steps from the property’s entrance.

Vernazza’s beach is just 100 metres away, while the village’s train station is about 50 metres away, convenient for reaching Monterosso, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore within minutes along the famous Cinque Terre line. The city of La Spezia, with the main train connections, is about 30 km away. Within a few metres you’ll also find several village eateries, such as Vineria Santa Marta and the trattoria Gb Eat, both about 10-20 metres from the door.

In summer, Vernazza is an ideal starting point for hikes along the Sentiero Azzurro, which links the five villages with sea views, while in autumn and winter the village becomes quieter, allowing for a more relaxed enjoyment of the small harbour and the terraced vineyards surrounding the settlement. The nearby beach in Monterosso’s historic centre, 2.5 km away, offers a larger seaside alternative in the low season.
