Ponte di Legno is a pretty mountain village at the northern tip of the Val Camonica, in the province of Brescia, set between the Adamello and Stelvio parks, at the foot of the Tonale Pass that marks the border with Trentino. It’s one of the most complete ski resorts in Lombardy: together with the Tonale and Temù it forms the great Pontedilegno-Tonale ski area (Adamello Ski), with a single ski pass, around 100 kilometres of slopes and snow guaranteed for a long time thanks to the high altitude.
Its great feature is the Presena glacier, which delivers a very long ski season and even summer skiing. But Ponte di Legno is worth it in every season: in summer it’s a destination for hiking, cycling and great Alpine passes. The village, pedestrian and well kept, offers a good choice of hotels and apartments. Here’s what to know for choosing where to stay and the recommended addresses.
Ponte di Legno and the Adamello Ski area

The village of Ponte di Legno is the ideal base: a pretty pedestrian centre with shops, restaurants and bars, at the foot of the lifts that climb towards Passo Paradiso and the Tonale. From here the Pontedilegno-Tonale area offers slopes for every level, from beginners to experts, with a modern lift system linking the village to high altitude. It’s a destination much loved by families, with ski schools, nursery slopes and services designed for children.
Sleeping in the centre means having everything within reach — lifts, shops and après-ski — and enjoying the village atmosphere in the evening. Most of the properties are welcoming hotels and garnis, often family-run, perfect for a ski week. Here are some recommended addresses.

The Presena glacier and what to do

The jewel of the area is the Presena glacier, which rises above 3,000 metres over the Tonale Pass: here the ski season is among the longest in the Alps and in some periods it’s possible to ski even in summer. The glacier, protected by geotextile sheets to slow its melting, offers panoramic slopes and memorable descents, as well as places of remembrance from the Great War, fought right on these peaks. It’s always best to check the lift-opening calendar in advance, as it varies from year to year.
But Ponte di Legno isn’t only winter: in summer it’s a destination loved by hikers and cyclists, with the great Alpine passes of the Gavia and the Tonale, the trails of the Adamello and Stelvio parks, mountain biking and high-altitude walks. An authentic, sporty territory, perfect for those who love the mountains in every season.
