History Suite

History Suite is a family-run bed and breakfast occupying a 17th-century building in the Pantheon district, right in front of the Roman ruins of Largo di Torre Argentina, in Rome’s historic centre.

The rooms, furnished with parquet floors and a sober, contemporary style, feature air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, private bathroom and free WiFi; some look directly over the archaeological area below. Guests have access to a common room with a refrigerator, microwave and tea and coffee-making facilities, while on milder days breakfast, which also includes cold cuts, can be enjoyed on the equipped terrace.

The location is among the property’s strong points: Piazza Navona is about 700 metres away, Campo de’ Fiori less than a 5-minute walk, and several bus lines stopping nearby provide quick connections to Termini station. It’s a solution designed above all for those exploring Rome on foot, with historic squares, neighbourhood restaurants and archaeological sites within easy reach, and it holds particular appeal for couples, who especially praise its central location.

Room types

History Suite offers two types of accommodation, both set within a historic palazzo and featuring parquet floors, air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free WiFi included in every room. The main difference lies in size and capacity: from a more compact room designed for two people to a room double in size, also suitable for small groups or families thanks to an additional sofa bed.

Both rooms share the same essential, elegant style of the property, with views over the surroundings and carefully finished details, but the Family Suite stands out for its more generous space and greater flexibility in bed arrangements, while the Double Suite remains the best choice for those seeking a romantic stay right in the centre, without giving up comforts such as air conditioning and a private bathroom.

Location & what to see

History Suite is located in the Pantheon district, one of the most history-laden neighbourhoods in Rome’s city centre, just steps from Largo di Torre Argentina, the archaeological area with the remains of four Republican-era temples, which some of the property’s rooms overlook. The area is a maze of alleys, small squares and historic buildings, with neighbourhood bars and restaurants right by the entrance, such as Panepiù Bistrot just 10 metres away and Gran Caffè Arenula at 40 metres.

Piazza Navona is about 150-200 metres away, while Campo de’ Fiori is just over 400 metres away, both less than a 5-minute walk. The Cavour metro stop is about 1.4 km away and the Colosseo stop 1.3 km, while several bus lines stop nearby and provide quick connections to Termini station. Those arriving by plane can rely on Ciampino airport, 13 km away, or Fiumicino, about 18 km away.

From here, many of the capital’s main attractions can be reached on foot: the Trevi Fountain is 800 metres away, the Imperial Forums about 650 metres, Castel Sant’Angelo 1.2 km and Piazza di Spagna 1.3 km. In any season, the neighbourhood is ideal for long walks among Roman ruins, baroque churches and historic squares, with the added advantage of being based just steps from Campo de’ Fiori, lively with bars in the evening and markets during the day.
