Bed and breakfast in the Ostiense district of Rome, near the Basilica San Paolo metro station, with Italian breakfast and air-conditioned rooms with city or garden views.

Room types

Light of Rome offers three room types, all between 13 and 14 square metres and designed for two people, with the option in some cases of adding a third guest. The rooms overlook the Don Giacomo Alberione public park and, in two cases, also offer city views, as well as a private balcony. All rooms feature air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a coffee machine and free WiFi, while the private bathroom is en suite except for one room type, where it is located just outside the room.

The main differences concern the bed layout: two rooms allow guests to choose between a large double bed or two separate single beds, ideal for couples or friends travelling together, while the third room type features a four-poster bed with the option of adding two single beds on request. Those looking for a better space-to-price ratio may prefer the economy room with external bathroom.

Location & what to see

Light of Rome is located in the Ostiense district, a residential area south of Rome’s historic centre, characterised by a mix of residential buildings, small local businesses and the nearby Don Giacomo Alberione public park, overlooked by several of the property’s rooms. It’s an area lived in mainly by locals, far from mass tourism yet well connected to the rest of the city.

Basilica S. Paolo metro station, on line B, is about 450 metres away and allows guests to reach both Termini Station and the EUR district in just a few stops. Roma Ostiense railway station is about 2 km away, while Rome Ciampino Airport is just under 10 km and Fiumicino Airport is about 17.6 km away. Within 150-450 metres there are several restaurants such as Osteria I Maccheroncini and Matrioska, as well as bars and cafés for breakfast or a quick break.

Guests staying here can reach the city’s main attractions in just a few minutes by metro: the Colosseum and the Roman Forum are about 4 km away, while the Baths of Caracalla, with their impressive Roman thermal ruins, are less than 3 km away and well served by the nearby Basilica S. Paolo metro station. For those who love lesser-known history, the Catacombs of Domitilla and the Cemetery of San Callisto, along the ancient Appian Way, are both about 2 km away and offer an immersion into early Christian underground Rome, open for guided tours all year round.
