Location & what to see

New Morpheus Rooms occupies a historic building on Via Palermo, on the fifth floor, in Rione Monti, one of the most authentic districts in the centre of Rome, known for its cobbled streets, artisan workshops and wine bars that bring the evenings to life. The building is a few steps from Piazza della Repubblica and the Fountain of Moses, in a residential yet very central area. A few metres away are also the Palazzo delle Esposizioni, home to temporary exhibitions, and the Parco del Ninfeo, a small public garden useful for a break away from the traffic.

Getting around is easy: Termini station is about 750 metres away, reachable in ten minutes on foot, while the Repubblica-Teatro dell’Opera and Cavour metro stations are 400 and 500 metres away respectively. The Colosseum and the Imperial Forums are about 1.1 km away, the Trevi Fountain 800 metres and Piazza Venezia 900 metres; the Domus Aurea, just over a kilometre away, is also comfortably accessible on foot. For those arriving by air, Ciampino airport is about 12 km away and Fiumicino 19 km, both connected to the centre by trains and shuttle buses.

The area is well suited to cultural tourism in every season: in the morning it’s worth heading to the Forums and the Colosseum before the main crowds arrive, in the afternoon you can walk to Piazza di Spagna or the National Roman Museum, less than 500 metres away, while in the evening the Monti district offers trattorias and casual venues for dinner without straying far from the property. In summer, cool evenings in the district’s many bars, and in winter, the Christmas lights of Piazza Venezia and the historic centre, make this part of Rome worth experiencing all year round.
