Piccolo Hotel is a family-run 3-star hotel in the Sempione district of Milan, managed by the same family of hoteliers since 1960. It is located about 500 metres from the MICO congress centre and about 20 minutes by public transport from the Fiera Milano Rho exhibition centre, in a residential area full of bars and restaurants.
The rooms, all with air conditioning and private bathroom, are available in Standard and Economy versions, suitable both for solo travellers and for groups or families thanks to double and triple solutions with single beds. Each room has satellite TV and bathroom toiletries, while the Standard rooms also offer a minibar.
In the morning a bright breakfast room is open with self-service from 7:00 to 9:30, and for the rest of the day guests can relax in the reading room with TV. The building is entirely non-smoking and the reception, staffed 24 hours a day, provides information on connections to Milano Centrale station and the historic centre, reachable in about 10 minutes by bus.

Piccolo Hotel offers eight room types, split between Standard and Economy versions, designed for solo, couple or small group stays. The Standard rooms, between 8 and 15 square metres, also include a minibar and are joined by the simpler Economy rooms, with essential furnishings but the same core comforts: air conditioning, private bathroom with hairdryer and toiletries, satellite TV with international channels and free WiFi connection.
The options include single, double and triple rooms with combinable single beds, ideal for those travelling with family. Some Economy rooms are located on the top floor, reachable via a short flight of stairs since the elevator only reaches the second-to-last floor: a detail worth considering for those who have difficulty climbing stairs with luggage.
The most compact of the Standard rooms, designed for a single guest. It has modern furnishings, tiled floors and, unlike the Economy rooms, a minibar in addition to satellite TV and a private bathroom with toiletries.
Room for two people with a large double bed, larger than the Standard Single and with the same modern furnishings. The private bathroom is fitted with a hairdryer and toiletries, while the minibar sets it apart from the Economy versions.
The largest of the Standard rooms, at 15 square metres, with two bed configurations to choose from: three single beds or one single bed paired with a large double bed, ideal for families or small groups.
An alternative to the Standard Double, designed for those who prefer two separate beds. Same 12-square-metre size, same modern furnishings and minibar included, but with a twin-bed configuration.
The budget version of the Single Room, with essential furnishings and no minibar. It may be located on the 1st floor or on the top floor of the building: in the latter case, a flight of stairs must be climbed, as the elevator stops one floor below.
The budget version of the Double Room, with simple furnishings and a large double bed. Like the other Economy rooms, it may be located on the top floor, reachable via a flight of stairs after the elevator.
The same size as the Economy Double, but with two separate single beds, useful for those who don’t share a bed. Essential furnishings and possible location on the top floor of the building.
The most spacious of the Economy rooms, at 15 square metres, with two possible bed configurations, three singles or one single plus a large double, designed for budget-conscious families.
Piccolo Hotel offers a reception staffed 24 hours a day, useful for those arriving in Milan at flexible times, as well as a luggage storage service and an elevator that reaches the second-to-last floor of the building. The property is entirely non-smoking and has a safe, heating and air conditioning in every room, together with a security system with closed-circuit cameras in the common areas.
For relaxing moments there is a common room with TV, while those wanting a coffee or a snack can stop by the on-site coffee shop or the bar. WiFi is free throughout the property and family rooms comfortably accommodate groups and families with children, with daily housekeeping included.
Piccolo Hotel is located in the Sempione district, a residential area northwest of Milan’s city centre, characterised by period buildings, neighbourhood supermarkets and small restaurants. The property is next to Fiftyfive bar and a short walk from venues such as Drogheria del Borella and Marcellino Pane e Vino, about 40-50 metres away, ideal for breakfast or an aperitivo without straying far from the hotel.
Connections to the rest of the city are one of the area’s strong points: the Domodossola stop, serving both the metro and the suburban railway line, is about 500 metres away, while the Gerusalemme metro station is 400 metres away. From here, the historic centre and Piazza del Duomo can be reached in about 10 minutes by bus or a few metro stops, while Linate Airport is 7 km away. Fiera Milano Rho is also connected in about 20 minutes by public transport, and the MICO congress centre is just 500 metres away on foot.
The surrounding area has plenty to offer for those wanting to discover Milan: Parco Sempione, with its large lawn and view of the Arco della Pace, is 1.8 km away, while the nearby Castello Sforzesco, 2.3 km away, houses some of the city’s most important civic museums. Contemporary architecture enthusiasts can reach the Bosco Verticale in about 2.4 km, and close by is also Casa Milan, home of the AC Milan club, 950 metres away. In winter the district comes alive with Christmas markets on the main streets, while in summer the city parks remain the favourite meeting point for an evening stroll.
Guests particularly appreciate the location, rated 8 out of 10, and the staff, with a score of 7.9. Facilities and comfort remain more modest, reflecting the simple, budget-friendly nature of the property.
