Hotel Cristallo is a 3-star property in the centre of Alagna Valsesia, at the foot of Monte Rosa, just 200 metres from direct access to the ski slopes.
This family-run hotel combines alpine tradition with modern touches, with colourful, bright rooms designed to guarantee guests privacy and quiet. The range of accommodation spans from the 35 sqm Double Room to the 80 sqm Family Suite with Balcony, suitable for large groups, as well as an independent two-room apartment with a separate living area. Many rooms enjoy views of the surrounding mountains.
In winter, guests can relax in the sauna and relaxation area after a day on the slopes, while in summer the location is perfect for hiking or cycling trips through the Monte Rosa valleys. Breakfast, served every morning, is prepared by the property’s own pastry chef using local products, homemade sweet and savoury dishes. The hotel also has free private parking, an in-house restaurant and welcomes pets, making it a practical base for families and winter sports enthusiasts.

Hotel Cristallo offers five types of accommodation, from the compact 18 sqm Small Double Room to the spacious 80 sqm Family Suite with Balcony, which can accommodate up to six people. All main rooms have a private bathroom with shower or bathtub, hairdryer, toiletries, safe and flat-screen TV with satellite channels, while several options offer views of the surrounding mountains and Alagna.
Those looking for more space can choose the Family Suite, equipped with a minibar and designed for larger families, or the version with a balcony and separate lounge area. For longer stays or groups needing more independence, a two-room apartment is available with two bedrooms, a sofa bed in the living room and spaces separate from the rest of the property. The Small Double Room, on the top floor, instead retains an original antique bed from the Walser tradition.
With its 35 sqm, this double room has a private bathroom with shower, bidet and toiletries. Parquet flooring, a wardrobe and a safe complete the furnishings, while the window opens onto views of the surrounding mountains. Thanks to the sofa bed configuration, it can accommodate up to 4 people.
Larger than the Double Room at 45 sqm, this family suite is designed for large families, accommodating up to 5 people. It has a private bathroom with shower and bidet, minibar, flat-screen TV with satellite channels and mountain views.
The most spacious room in the hotel, with 80 sqm and capacity for up to 6 people. It stands out for its private balcony with mountain views, a separate lounge area and a bathroom with a bathtub, the only one in the entire property.
Located on the top floor, this is the smallest room in the hotel at 18 sqm, designed for two people. It retains an antique bed typical of Walser culture, slightly shorter than standard: for this reason the property does not recommend hosting pets in this room.
The property’s only independent accommodation, this two-room apartment consists of two bedrooms and a living room with a sofa bed, for a maximum of 3 guests. It is the ideal solution for those seeking more independence than the hotel’s classic rooms, for example for extended stays or small groups.
Hotel Cristallo offers free private parking, free WiFi and welcomes pets, making it a practical choice for those travelling with family or with their dog. The property has two in-house restaurants, a café and a snack bar, with the option of breakfast served in the room and menus available on request for specific dietary needs.
To relax after days on the snow or hiking, guests have access to a sauna, spa area and massage services, as well as a sun terrace with deck chairs and sun loungers. The property also organises bike tours, walking tours, ski outings and horse riding, and has a tour desk and shuttle service. Completing the offer are a lift, safe, in-house minimarket, heating, car hire and parking reserved for guests with disabilities.
The hotel is located in Piazza Alberghi, in the heart of Alagna Valsesia, an alpine village at the foot of Monte Rosa known for its Walser architecture in wood and stone. The pedestrian square is surrounded by souvenir shops, sports boutiques and cafés, and is a gathering point for those arriving with skis on or after a hike. Just a few steps away are La Stube (20 m) and Caffè delle Guide (30 m), ideal for a quick stop, while La Miacceria (50 m) offers typical Valsesia dishes.
The ski slopes of the Monterosa Ski area are accessible in about 200 metres on foot, making the hotel convenient for those practising alpine skiing or ski mountaineering in winter. By car, the nearest airport is Milan Malpensa, about 64 km away, connected via the Valsesia state road. Those travelling by public transport can rely on the railway stations on the Swiss side of Zermatt, such as Gornergrat and Rotenboden, about 18-19 km away as the crow flies, useful for those organising cross-border excursions on the Monte Rosa massif.
In summer, the area is a starting point for trekking towards Cima Carnera (2,741 m), about 2.6 km away, and for walks along the Sesia stream, while mountain bike enthusiasts will find marked trails winding through the alpine pastures. In winter, in addition to skiing, snowshoeing and guided walks in the surrounding woods are available. The Monterosa Ski area connects Alagna to Gressoney and Champoluc with numerous kilometres of slopes, while in the summer months the Alagna-Passo dei Salati cable car takes visitors to altitudes above 2,900 metres to admire the panorama of the surrounding peaks.
