This is the heart of Lignano, the tip of the peninsula where it all began. The trade-off is that services here are more spread out and for the centre you’ll want a bike or a car. There are few bookable properties: the one we recommend is a solid base for enjoying the quiet side of Lignano.

When to go
Lignano is a seaside resort, so the core of the season runs from June to September, peaking in July and August. High summer is the time of services at full swing — beach clubs, parks, entertainment, nightlife — but also the busiest and priciest: if you’re travelling with small children and want the beach at its best, it’s still the right moment. June and September are ideal for those wanting the same sea with more calm and gentler prices: the water is still good, the days are long, the crowds thinner.
Out of season the peninsula empties and many places close, but the pinewood and the lagoon are still lovely for a walk or a weekend away. In any period, it’s worth checking ahead the opening of parks, spas and beach clubs, which follow the summer calendar.
How to get there
Lignano is easily reached by car from the A4 motorway, Latisana exit, from which a direct road leads to the peninsula in about twenty minutes. By train the reference station is Latisana, on the Venice-Trieste line, linked to Lignano by scheduled buses; by air the nearest airports are Trieste-FVG at Ronchi dei Legionari and Venice, both about an hour away.
